Others heard the cries and attempted a rescue, but so many could not be saved. The disaster remains a testament to both the cruelty of slavery and the power of Mother Nature’s oceans, and for two centuries, the information about that fateful night still held by the wreckage of the ship remained a mystery. Now, archeologists at Biscayne National Park are determined to find it.
