One World, Two Feet – Anhingas in the Everglades

On the way to the Keys in 2014, my friends and I spent a morning on the Anhinga Trail on the Florida Everglades. Though we saw many species of birds – in addition to dozens of alligators – the Anhingas stand out most in my mind. Their ebony forms shimmered in the early light, and they stretched their wings wide to gather the warmth of the rising sun.
